Lee Arms Co .32Rimfire Red Jacket Revolver

During the period between the end of the American Civil War and 1900, over the length and breadth of the USA, pistols like this were bought for self defense. Though inexpensive, they were generally of good quality, but in a competitive market, quality was not enough for commercial success, and manufacturers resorted to exotic names - and finishes.
This lovely little gun retains most of its nickel finish, and has a mixed engraving design, part scroll, part dot.
Its main claim to fame however is the right grip panel, which features a young lady with flowing locks - and with other attractions - in French ivory.
Since elephants are not indigenous to France, I assume this description refers to a manmade finish.
In excellent condition with good mechanics, here is an opportunity to acquire an unusual and 'desirable'
grip, sorry gun!
In a nice modern case with (of course) French fitting.

Smith & Wesson Revolver in .44 Russian Calibre
(Wells Fargo Link)
The New Model No. 3 Revolver was introduced by Smith & Wesson in 1878, with the last one shipped in 1912.
This one appears to have been nickel plated but lost its finish long ago, undoubtedly as it was required to do its job back and forward across the still untamed West. The smooth edges on the frame and the beautifully smoothed down grips (one partly cracked long ago) attest to this.
This example has the rare 4" barrel, with a bright clean bore with strong rifling, and good chambers.
It has a good legible barrel address and on the right side of the ejector housing bears the magic legend "WF&Co"
On the inside of one of the grips, are three scratched crosses, the reason for which we will never know.
At some time it appears the firing pin has been replaced.
There is some fore and aft movement of the cylinder and a little play on lock up - but this a real piece of American history.

Double Action 320 Pinfire Revolver by F Driesen of Liege

I have never been over keen on pinfire guns but appreciate they do have a significant place in history - many individuals have become history as a result of them!
When I saw this one I had to have it; it is virtually mint. The nickel plating is 100% and the engraving crisp and clear.
With excellent working action and good grips, this gun has an unrifled bore.

Colt New Service Revolver in .44 S&W Russian Calibre
This is a very nice example of the 'Old Model' Flat Top New Service Revolver in the obsolete .44 S&W Russian Calibre. Of the 21,000 made between 1900 and 1909 only 500-1,000 were Target guns, this one coming out of the factory in March 1909. Serial  number 207xx.
In excellent mechanical condition, with matching numbers (except for cylinder) and retaining well over 60% original finish, though somewhat faded. The blue finish has minor scratching and some freckling. Barrel markings, Colt's proof mark, serial numbers and the Rampant Colt emblem are all clear.
The bore is very good with bright shiny lands and crisp rifling, though there is a ring of moderate pitting in mid barrel.
The chambers are immaculate, the ejection system works smoothly, and the excellent lock up is as tight as a drum.
Various accessories are available for this gun, at extra cost, including a fitted case (not original to the gun) cleaning rod, oil bottle, speed loader, Colt multi head screwdriver, turnscrew, reloading dies, inert .44 Russian rounds, and a copy of Bob Murphy's book on the model.

In continuous production from 1898 through 1944, the New Service was the largest swing-out cylinder double action revolver ever produced.
It has adjustable sights (blade front / rear notch) and straight fluted cylinder.
The chequered Fleur De Lis walnut grips are in excellent shape, each carrying  the serial number in pencil, with crisp chequering. Stamped into the base of the butt is the number 03 and etched beside it (and on the base of each walnot grip) are the letters 'UP. Although there is no written evidence available this is thought to refer to the Union Pacific Railroad, which issued its guards with Colt New Service revolvers - although the issue of a target model must leave some doubt.
If the UP association is correct, this is a much travelled gun.

As is the case with all my guns, this Colt is offered strictly as a display item, not for firing. Please acquaint yourself with UK legal conditions through our link to the Home Office website

CLEMENT SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL in 5mm Clement Calibre
There are very few semi automatic pistols that may be owned in the UK without a licence, but Charles Clement's rare 5mm introduced in 1903 is one of them. Clement designed this pistol to chamber the 5mm Charola Anitua round, and his pistol outlived the Spanish gun, leading to the 5mm round taking Clement's own name.
This example is in very nice condition though with replacement magazine and grips.
It has a perfect mirror-like bore with strong rifling, strong recoil spring and excellent action, backstrap magazine release, two-position safety, blade front sight and v-notch rear sight.
The Clement is a slim elegant little automatic, very comfortable in the hand and with excellent balance. In an old (not original) fitted case with key.
Overall length 5 1/4" Barrel length 2 3/4"

Ref AP210  £1475
Historical note: Charles Clement's design became the basis of a generation of Smith & Wesson semi automatic pistols after he took his design to the States.

Remington .36 New Model Police (Percussion) Revolver

A nice example of this fine and stylish revolver, in good working order, with modern replacement grips, which appear to be ivory.
The probably victorian case, not original to gun, contains a period copper powder flask in good order, with only minor dings to indicate its age, a period bullet mold, and a nice modern combined cleaning rod / screwdriver, as well as a Remington Inspector's tag.

At some time long ago the gun's loading lever has been repaired near the muzzle, but this does not detract from a fine gun with most of its nickel plating intact.

Nice clean bore with scattered moderate pitting, but strong rifling.
Barrel length 4.5"  Overall length 9.5"

Colt Double Action Army 1878 Model Revolver in 44 Russian Calibre
(With Colt Letter)
This gun has been nicely refinished though with some evidence of scattered pitting below the finish, and is offered in a nice old refinished case (not original). Barrel markings have been polished out.
The mechanics are good though with about an eighth of an inch play in the cylinder.
There was a high rate of attrition for guns in the old west - and of 51,300 models 1878 made from 1878 to 1905 less than 200 were made in this calibre - so this is a rare item, one of 50 shipped to London in February 1887. Strong rifling in shiny bore with evidence of polished out pitting to be expected in a hundred year old black powder gun
Nice brown checkered grips with the rearing colt emblem. Serial number on butt would place gun in 1887. Smooth solid action in single and double action mode.

COPY - Webley WP Revolver in .320 Calibre - COPY

Although this is not a genuine Webley, it is an excellent copy in superb condition, believed to have been made in India.
It retains around 98% of its original finish, marred only by the cracked right grip. Mechanically very good, it has an excellent bore and chambers, although the ejection system which ejects properly does not spring back in the usual way. This may simply be a case of the copier not appreciating the spring-back system. At lock up the cylinder has perhaps an eighth of an inch play.
None of my guns is offered for shooting, though I appreciate that subject to fulfilling the legal requirements and having a gun vetted by a qualified gunsmith some buyers may be tempted. I make the point however, that this gun though beautifully made, was manufactured using fairly primitive tools, and very possibly sub standard metal, therefore it is
NOT to be fired!

Menz Liliput Semi Auto Pistol in 4.25mm Calibre

This attractive little pistol which fired a bullet of a calibre similar to the .177 used by many airguns has lost its finish, but remains in good working order, with a functioning safety.
Designed really as a lady's 'purse gun' this was never a serious offensive weapon, but rather a noise creator and frightener - although I'd rather not test the efficacy of the bullet on my person! Suffice it to say that the experts comments on this gun suggest the handbag was the more potent weapon.
Obsolete calibre semi autos are quite rare, and this is a nice example.

Semi Automatic 'Liliput' Pistol in 4.25mm Calibre

A lovely example of the 1925 model of this 'small but perfectly formed' ladies' purse automatic.
This example in in the blued finish and apart from the edges most of that finish remains.
Very nice grips, the left one showing the calibre and a laurel wreath in silver (this grip has a small repaired crack behind the retaining screw which at some point has been over-tightened) while the silver has worn off on the right.
Nice clean bore with some roughness, but rifling remains evident (this is the only gun I know where the bore can be cleaned with a cotton bud!)
Left mounted safety locks the trigger.
Excellent mechanics.

STAR BUYS

CLEMENT SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL in 5mm Clement Calibre

An excellent example of Charles Clement's rare 5mm introduced in 1903.
In excellent working order and condition, and with a good clean bore with strong rifling, this gun retains 90+% of its original blue and clear markings.
Nice substantial walnut grips with just a couple of 'dings.'

Backstrap magazine release, two-position safety, blade front sight and v-notch rear sight.
Shown with the pistol are two (inert) original 5mm Clement rounds.

Overall length 5 1/4" Barrel length 2 3/4"

Historical note: Charles Clement's design became the basis of a generation of Smith & Wesson semi automatic pistols.
